Faculty receives awards from American Association of Petroleum Geologists
|
Dr. Jim Puckette of the Boone Pickens School of Geology recently received two awards from the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Midcontinent Sectional Conference.
Puckette was first honored with the Robey H. Clark Memorial in recognition of his years of service and numerous contributions to the science of geology.

Dr. Rosemary Avance, an assistant professor in the School of Media and Strategic Communications, recently performed a groundbreaking study for the Oklahoma Media Center on Oklahoma news deserts, or areas where residents have limited to no access to reliable local journalism.

Associate dean Borunda named American Physical Society fellow
|
On Oct. 19, the American Physical Society announced its newest cohort of 153 fellowship recipients. Among them was physics associate professor Dr. Mario Borunda.
Borunda, who serves as an associate dean and senior inclusion officer, is one of just 10 APS fellows ever selected from OSU.

Five faculty members from the Department of Physics have been awarded a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy to fund the research project “Theoretical and Experimental Research in Weak, Electromagnetic and Strong Interaction.”

OSU sociology professors named new editors of prominent journal
|
Four faculty members from the
the Department of Sociology have been selected as the new editors of "Social Problems," the official journal of the Society for the Study of Social Problems.
They will begin their tenure in June 2024.

Faculty Spotlight: Dr. Spencer Pitre
|
Dr. Spencer Pitre is an assistant professor in the Department of Chemistry.
Dr. Pitre's research group is interested in developing new strategies for the design and synthesis of small molecules using visible light irradiation as an energy source.
