Message of Thanks

Thank you for your unceasing commitment to the oath you took to "preserve the health and the life of patients" and to "be ever vigilant in aiding in the general welfare of the community." Whether you said those words last year or 30 years ago, your promise to help where you are needed is admirable and remarkable. Thank you for your courage to fight through the emotional, mental and physical toil that this crisis has taken on you and your family as you continue to care for your patients despite the health risks.

We appreciate all health care providers and professionals working across all medical fields during this trying time. Thank you and please, stay healthy and safe.

Sincerely,

President, OSU Center for Health Sciences

Dean, OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine

Alumni Spotlight

What drew you to OSU’s medical school?

Since I grew up in Oklahoma, I preferred to stay in Oklahoma for medical school. When I interviewed at OSU College of Osteopathic Medicine, I immediately recognized the cordial, family-like atmosphere. Members of the administration and faculty were kind and open to answer any questions I had about the program. I valued that all clinical rotations were in the state and most were completed at the OSU-CHS's teaching hospital right across the river. OSU-COM had a reputation for excellent education within a supportive environment, and I knew this is where I would fit in best.

What did you enjoy most about the program?

Although medical school can be overwhelming due to the amount of information you must retain, I thoroughly enjoyed my years of learning at OSU-COM. I always felt supported by the faculty and administration that consistently had an open-door policy. There was a sense of camaraderie among my peers, the faculty, and administration that made the journey fun.

Medical students were encouraged to develop not only their scholastic ability to become an excellent physician, but also their leadership skills required to be an effective community leader. OSU-COM supported me in my goals to learn more about health policy and patient advocacy on the state and national level. I am forever grateful to OSU for supporting my dream to become a physician and showing me the importance of patient advocacy in our ever-changing political climate.

What is your specialty?
