Pokes PodCAS: Two Orange Gowns, Five Majors

Listen to our conversation with Jacqueline “Jackie” Harsha and Kaitlyn Taylor, two of OSU’s Orange Gown Graduates for the May 2023 commencement.

 

Harsha, a triple major, will wear the orange gown at the CAS ceremony. Taylor, a CAS and Ferguson College of Agriculture double major, will wear the gown for the Ferguson ceremony.

CAS student and professor publish translation of poetry collection

French major Hannah Farris and Languages and Literatures professor Eric Turcat recently published an English translation of a book of poetry titled Chance Freedom by Giovani Dotoli.

 

Farris and Turcat worked the entire fall 2022 semester translating Chance Freedom, which is now available online and at the Edmon Low Library.

OSU continues to rise in graduate school rankings

Several OSU graduate degree programs appeared in the annual U.S. News and World Report Best Graduate Schools rankings, released April 25.

 

The College of Arts and Sciences saw five graduate programs in the latest rankings.

English department hosts arts, humanities and languages conference 

The OSU Department of English hosted the inaugural Southern Plains Arts, Humanities and Languages Conference April 28-29.

 

The conference brought together instructors and students from various programs in the College of Arts and Sciences along with participants from regional universities.

Help share this opportunity: Scholarships available for Drilling Basics Online

Do you know an Oklahoma resident or employee of an Oklahoma-owned business who is looking to enhance their skills or make a career shift? They could be eligible to receive free training in areas related to groundwater through NGWA University, OSU’s partnership with the National Groundwater Association. NGWAU is training professionals to meet the needs of a growing groundwater workforce, with potential career fields in geology, water quality, environmental science and more.

 

Participants will receive a certificate of completion and a digital badge to share on social media or on their resume to showcase the skills learned through the courses.

Faculty Spotlight: Derek Meyers, Department of Physics

Dr. Derek Meyers joined the Department of Physics at OSU as an assistant professor in August 2019.

 

His research is focused on creating new phases of matter by assembling materials one atomic layer at a time.
