CAS nominees needed for OSU Faculty Council election
##SENDGRIDOPENTRACKING##

Greetings, CAS faculty!

As you may know, OSU Faculty Council elections are coming up after Spring Break. There are three open positions on OSU Faculty Council for faculty members representing the College of Arts and Sciences. We wanted to make you aware that we have not yet received any nominations for those positions. We encourage eligible CAS faculty members (tenure track, with at least three years of employment at OSU; see excerpt from the Charter and Bylaws of the General Faculty, below) to consider submitting their nomination. This will ensure that the voices of CAS faculty are represented at the University level.

To submit your nomination to serve as a CAS representative, please complete the petition and return it to Tricia White, Faculty Council Office (tricia.white@okstate.edu or 314 PIO Building). We are also still accepting nominations for Vice Chair. Questions about these petitions can be directed to Tricia at 405-744-8790. Petitions are due by March 10.

Serving on OSU Faculty Council is a great opportunity to participate in shared governance, meet colleagues from across campus, and learn more about how the University operates. Faculty who have questions about serving on OSU Faculty Council (either as a CAS representative or as Vice Chair) are encouraged to reach out to the current CAS representatives or to the officers (see https://academicaffairs.okstate.edu/faculty-council/officers-and-members.html).

Charter and Bylaws of the General Faculty (Article III,  The Faculty Council)

2. To be nominated for a position on the Faculty Council, an eligible Faculty member or his or her sponsor shall submit a petition signed by five (5) voting members of the General Faculty from the constituency concerned and an accompanying signed statement indicating willingness to serve if elected.  These documents shall be filed with the Secretary of the Faculty Council during the filing period of March 1 through March 10.  If fewer than two candidates are nominated for a vacancy, the Nominating Committee of the Faculty Council shall make an additional nomination or nominations to provide two candidates for each vacancy at the General election.
