2021 Fall Convocation Award Winners Announced
|
Oklahoma State University President Kayse Shrum honored faculty, staff and administrators for their achievements in 2021 at the University Awards Convocation on Tuesday in the Student Union Ballroom. Dr. Shrum and Dr. Jeanette Mendez, OSU's interim provost, gave out awards in 22 different categories to recipients who were nominated by their peers and supervisors. Several CAS faculty members were honored at the Convocation.

Celebrating in the key of Greenwood
|
The grand opening celebration for the Michael and Anne Greenwood School of Music was a long time in the making. Oklahoma State University marked the milestone on Sept. 11 with a standing-room only crowd nearly four years after the Greenwoods announced their lead gift in 2017. But a new building has been needed for at least the last decade to alleviate the strain on the Seretean Center, which served both the music and theatre programs.

CAS student named Honorary Graduate Commencement Marshal
|
Emily Geest came to Oklahoma State University hoping to make the most out of her time left in school, and her numerous accolades indicate she has succeeded. Now, she has another to add to the list: Honorary Graduate Commencement Marshal. “It’s such a great honor,” said Geest, an integrative biology Ph.D. candidate. “I was not expecting it, but it’s a nice way to end such a great journey.”

OSU President Kayse Shrum presided over her first graduation, making the 143rd commencement the first all-female-led ceremony in OSU’s history. |
• | Oklahoma State University and a growing coalition of more than two dozen U.S. colleges and universities joined Welcome.US in announcing the creation of the Welcome Campus Network. Colleges and universities in more than 30 states are actively working to provide scholarships, housing units, community sponsorship, and pathways to education for thousands of Afghan refugees and their families, as well as other support and welcoming activities. |

Faculty Scholar Spotlight: Sathya Aakur, Department of Computer Science
|
I joined OSU as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science in Fall 2019. I earned my Ph.D. in Computer Science and Engineering in Summer 2019 and a master’s degree in Management Information Systems from the University of South Florida in Fall 2015. Before my graduate studies, I worked as a software engineer in the logistics industry and have a bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from Anna University, Chennai.
