To date, Pickens’ charitable gifts total half a billion dollars, including more than $265 million to his beloved alma mater.  Garth Brooks, considered by many the “king” of country music, was considered the world’s #1 entertainment act in the 1990s with over 70 hit singles and 115 million albums sold in the U.S. alone.  He retired in 2000 and now spends time focused on his new wife, Trisha Yearwood, and raising his three children on the family ranch near Owasso.

Oklahoma Can Expect Slower Job Growth in 2007
Tuesday, December 05, 2006 (158 reads)

Oklahoma added 28,800 jobs this year for overall job growth of 1.9 percent, continuing a broad based expansion that’s expected to be slightly slower in 2007, according to the latest statewide forecast released by the Center for Applied Economic Research at Oklahoma State University’s Spears School of Business. The forecast shows Oklahoma can expect 17,900 new jobs in 2007, a 1.2 percent gain. It indicates that the state’s energy sector is the most likely reason job growth has outpaced the national average for the last few years. However, a study by the center also found evidence that higher energy prices have taken a toll on per capita income.  For more details, click here.
