OSU’s Economic Impact on Oklahoma nearly $2 billion a year

A study released Friday at the Oklahoma State University Board of Regents meeting in Tulsa reveals that the total economic impact of the OSU System on the state of Oklahoma is nearly $2 billion a year.

OSU-OKC Native American Students Host “Code Talkers” Banquet

Dinner, activities honoring Native American World War I and II veterans and an exclusive preview of the Oklahoma History Center’s new “Code Talkers” exhibit are just the highlights of a special evening at the Nov. 8 OSU-OKC Native American Student Association “Code Talkers” Banquet.
 
Tickets cost $25 (student tickets $15 – quantity is limited) and advanced ticket purchase is required.  Tickets may be purchased in person at the OSU-OKC Student Activities Office, or by mailing checks (payable to OSU-OKC NASA) to OSU-OKC Student Activities Office, Student Center Room 102A, 900 N. Portland Ave., Oklahoma City, OK 73107-6195.  Deadline for ticket sales is Oct. 30.

Get Lost in a Sea of Orange

The 2006 “Sea of Orange” Homecoming Parade will be the place for Cowboy fans to line the street and see the Homecoming royalty, bands and floats. The parade tradition began in 1930, when the mile long parade made its way down Main Street for the first time in OSU history. 
 
The “Sea of Orange” parade begins at 9 a.m., Oct. 21, on Main Street in downtown Stillwater.  It starts at the intersection of 12th and Main and will end at Hall of Fame and Main Street. 
 
The parade will display many colored floats, the Cowboy Marching Band and Pep Squads, the 2006 Homecoming Royalty and Executives and several area high school bands.

Enjoy Harvest Carnival!

Harvest Carnival is Homecoming's oldest tradition. The event, which began in 1913, is a old-fashioned carnival for children. This year, Harvest Carnival and the Chili Cook-Off will be held at the Payne County Expo Center from 6 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.  Activities include Pete’s sleeping sheep, a pie toss, pumpkin bowling and a moon bounce.  It's a fantastic time for the whole family.
 
Carnival entry is 25 cents for one ticket and a canned food item for two.  The food collected will be donated to Harvest II.

Show Your Support with Street Painting

Paint the street orange and black this Wednesday. Homecoming street painting will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to decorate the street for the team's spirit walk. Meet on Hester Street to write or draw your support for the Cowboys! Paint and brushes will be supplied.

Parking and Transportation for Walkaround

The tradition of Walkaround continues from 6:30 - 10:00 p.m. on October 20. 
 
Two shuttles will be running to and from Walkaround from 5:30 - 10:30 p.m.  The last bus will run from Walkaround at 11:30 p.m.  The bus on the east side will stop at Fairfield, Hampton and Best Western.  The bus on the west side will stop at Holiday Inn, servicing Relax Inn and Suites, and the Days Inn, servicing Motel 6.

Those attendees needing handicap parking may approach the lot between Willard and Whitehurst, preferably from north on Monroe Street.  There are also handicap spaces available in the Student Union parking garage.

 
Please do not bring your pets to the Walkaround festivities.

Let's Rally at our Road Games!

OSU wants all traveling Cowboy Football fans to rally around the team by greeting them as they arrive in Lawrence this Saturday to take on the KU Jayhawks. The team bus will arrive around 10:45 - 11:00 at the southeast corner of the stadium. OSU fans are asked to gather there at 10:30 to get ready for the team.

OSU Cowgirl Soccer Off to a Great Start

Cowgirl soccer shutout No. 11 Texas 1-0 this past Friday, which is their second Big 12 win so far this season. The Cowgirls are now ranked No. 21.
 
In other soccer news, junior midfielder Yolanda Odenyo was named to the Soccer America Team of the Week and Soccer Buzz Team of the Week both on Sept. 27, 2006.
 
The team is hosting Iowa State this Friday at 7 p.m. and Missouri on Sunday at 1 p.m.

Dean Knaub Stepping Down from OSU </a>

After 17 years as dean of the College of Human Environmental Sciences, Dr. Patricia K. Knaub has announced her intention to step down from the post at Oklahoma State University effective June 30, 2007. Knaub confirmed that decision in a recent letter to OSU Senior Vice President and Provost Dr. Marlene Strathe.
