Mexican Students Learn At Business School
Wednesday, June 27, 2007 (92 reads)

STILLWATER, Okla., June 18, 2007 — Pouring rain and lightning flashes welcomed a group of 21 undergraduate students to Oklahoma State University as they finished their van ride from Chihuahua, Mexico, on June 1.

But they didn’t come all this way to see a flooded American city. They came to experience education and culture in Oklahoma
. Fortunately, the flood soon subsided and the students have since been in a torrent of educational and cultural experiences.

The study abroad trip is part of a collaborative effort between the OSU William S. Spears School of Business and the Chihuahua campus of Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey
, or ITESM. The OSU School of International Studies is assisting with the program, as well.

“We are certainly pleased to host these students and have them visit courses, tour business in the area, go on cultural trips and experience life in Stillwater,” said Sara Freedman, dean of the Spears School of Business.  “Strengthening both our partnership with ITESM-Chihuahua and international relations with Mexico is a tremendous asset as we move forward in a time of increasing globalization.”

TULSA, Okla., June 22, 2007 -- The Oklahoma State University/A&M Board of Regents approved a fiscal year 2008 budget of $900 million for the Oklahoma State University System at its meeting Friday in Tulsa.

“This budget will allow us to excel across many fronts as we carry out our land-grant mission of teaching/learning, research/scholarship and outreach/service,” said Interim OSU System CEO and President Marlene Strathe.  “We will increase pay for faculty and staff, and continue to fund research and academic programs that directly affect the student experience.”
